Successful CAR Setups Facilitated

3 Weeks

Average Time to
Appointment

Step 1: Initial Consultation & Needs Assessment

Your journey begins with a complimentary consultation to understand:

  • Your specific business model, operations, and objectives.

  • Your eligibility to operate as a CAR under our AFSL.

  • Costs of operating as a CAR and the process and steps to commence operations.

Step 2: Authorisation as Our Corporate Authorised Representative (CAR)

If you are eligible to be appointed as a CAR, we will formalise the relationship. This involves:

  • Discussing and finalising the scope of your authorised activities.

  • Entering into a transparent CAR agreement.

  • Determining whether staff also need to be appointed as ARs.

Step 3: Disclosure Documents

With your CAR authorisation in place, we assist you to ensure you have the appropriate disclosure documents in place to operate under our AFSL. This includes:

  • Preparing / reviewing your Information Memorandum / Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

  • Preparing / reviewing your Financial Services Guides (FSG), Target Market Determination (TMD) and T&Cs.

  • Providing induction training to staff on the CAR authorisation and compliance requirements.

Step 4: Supervision & Support

Once operational, AFSL House provides you with ongoing supervision and support. This includes:

  • Regular compliance monitoring and supervision.

  • Access to ongoing compliance training and support.

  • Support in complying with product terms or disclosure documents including Information Memorandum (IM) or Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

Frequently Asked Questions About AFSL for Hire

What is an Australian Financial Service Licence for hire and how does it work for an authorised representative?

An AFSL for hire allows your business to provide financial services and deal in financial products by operating as a CAR under an existing AFSL holder’s AFSL, instead of obtaining your own. This arrangement means you are authorised to carry on a financial services business under the supervision and licence of the AFSL holder. It provides a pathway to market for those who want to provide financial services without the full burden of holding their own AFSL.

Can Australian Financial Service Licence for hire arrangements help with faster market entry for funds management?

Yes, AFSL for hire arrangements can significantly accelerate market entry for funds management operations. Operating under an existing AFSL holder’s licence typically reduces the time and upfront costs associated with applying for and obtaining a new AFSL. This is particularly beneficial for boutique funds management seeking to commence business operations or for investment managers focused on raising capital quickly.
